Supplementary feed for horses

When feeding light-fed or overweight horses, it is even more important to make a clear distinction between vital substance and energy requirements. If carbohydrate metabolism disorders have already occurred or are to be prevented, a special feed concept is required: without cereal starch, but with many important vital substances!

Grain- and molasses-free, very low starch and sugar content

Moderate copper content to improve the zinc-copper ratio

FOR A GRAIN-FREE DIET
Equigard® is intended for the nutrition of light-fed, overweight horses that need to be fed a low-starch and low-sugar diet or have an increased risk of metabolic problems due to their constitution.

LESS STARCH - BETTER HEALTH
Scientific studies show that in cases of metabolic problems, the total content of non-structural carbohydrates such as cereal starch and sugar in the feed ration should be reduced. Equigard® contains significantly less starch and sugar than cereals and is therefore ideally suited as a low-energy diet for horses at risk or already affected.

FEED THE METABOLISM
To stabilise insulin function, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, vital substances such as magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, omega-3 fatty acids, lecithin and antioxidants such as vitamin E and flavonoids from fruit are of particular importance.

OUR RECOMMENDATION
Equigard® is also ideally suited as a "standing feed" during convalescence.

COMPOSITION: Grass chaff warm air dried (low glycaemic) 34 %, fruit fibres (apple/grape), beet fibres, wheat bran, oil cake mixture (linseed, sunflower seeds), rice bran, maize germ, oat hull bran, brewer's yeast, isomaltulose, oil mixture cold pressed (linseed, sunflower, maize germ oil) 2.2 %, calcium carbonate (marine and mineral), herbs (honeysuckle, bilberry leaves, meadowsweet, hawthorn, milk thistle seeds) 1.4 %, salt, vinegar, dicalcium phosphate, garlic

FEEDING RECOMMENDATION:

As a supplement to the basic feed supply with roughage and/or pasture grass. From a quantity of approx. 200-350 g per 100 kg body weight and day, no additional mineral feed is necessary. The total amount should be spread over several rations. In case of lower dosage or supply deficits we recommend the addition of Glucogard® or MicroVital®. In case of increased energy requirements (for performance horses) combine with Struktur-E® grain-free and vegetable oils.

Due to the higher content of vitamins and trace elements compared to complete feeds, this supplementary feed may only be fed to horses up to 27.8 % of the daily ration (incl. hay). Please adhere to the feeding recommendation.

Tip: For older horses, hasty eaters or horses with tooth, chewing or gullet problems, we recommend enriching muesli with water or switching from muesli to pelleted feed, soaking it with sufficient water and feeding it as a mash.
Please pay attention to the fluid intake of your horse.
