Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation or LED light therapy, is recognised as a safe, painless, non-invasive and drug-free form of treatment for healing the skin and body. It involves exposing animals to therapeutic wavelengths of light to improve their health and well-being.
Visible red light (660 nm) is absorbed very efficiently by the skin layers and is well suited for applications such as stimulating trigger and acupuncture points as well as treating wounds and infections. Near infrared light (850 nm) penetrates to a deeper level and is used to treat tendons, ligaments, bones, joints and muscles.
